Women's Lacrosse Downs Wilmington (Del.) To Open CACC Play

PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's lacrosse team (2-3, 1-0 CACC) opened the CACC schedule with a 13-10 win over visiting Wilmington (Del.) (3-6, 0-1 CACC) on Tuesday.

GAMEPLAY
The Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from sophomore Erin Campbell and junior Sarah von Lange. The Wildcats cut it to 2-1 before junior Erin Eckert hit the back of the net to restore a two-goal advantage.

Wilmington rallied for three straight goals to go ahead 4-3 with 14:25 to play in the first half. Jefferson responded with four unanswered tallies by four different players for a 7-4 cushion at 2:22. The Wildcats made it 7-5 before halftime.

In the second, freshman Kanha Stockford found the goal to increase the margin to three (8-5). Wilmington recorded back-to-back markers to get within one. The Rams countered with strong play over the next 12 minutes, posting five goals in a row to make the score 13-7 with 11:12 left. Sarah von Lange led the charge with two goals. The Wildcats tried to come back but Jefferson held them to three goals in the final minutes.
