PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (4-1) shot an impressive 50 percent from the field to defeat visiting East Stroudsburg, 79-52, on Monday evening.
GAMEPLAY
The Rams jumped out to an 8-3 advantage in the opening quarter. The Warriors recovered to score six straight points and go ahead by one (9-8). Not to be outdone, Jefferson answered with eight of the next 10 to take a 16-11 lead at the end of the period.
Sabria Lytes tallied six of the eight points in the stretch.
ESU began the second quarter with a 9-3 run to go in front 20-19. The Rams then embarked on a 20-1 run to take control by 18 (39-21). Five different players produced points in the rally. Jefferson went into halftime with a 39-24 advantage.
The Rams maintained a double-digit lead for the entirety of the third quarter as they kept the Warriors out of the game. Jefferson then opened the fourth with a 15-3 run for its largest lead of the contest at 29 (76-47).
