LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The #24/18 Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (11-1, 3-0 CACC) outscored Georgian Court (2-7, 0-3 CACC), 43-16, over the second and third quarters to cruise to a 71-46 victory over the host Lions on Thursday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rams fell behind 4-0 early on but came back with the next eight points for an 8-4 advantage. GCU answered with a 7-1 run to go ahead 11-9 with 3:12 on the clock. Jefferson tallied four in a row before the Lions did the same to take a 15-13 lead into the second quarter.
The Rams dominated the second stanza, scoring the first 16 points of the period to go in front 29-15 with 3:43 remaining. Four different players scored during the surge. Jefferson shot 47.8% (11-of-23) during the quarter and had a 35-23 lead at halftime.
The Rams continued their strong play in the third, netting eight of the first 10 points to up the margin to 18 (43-25). The score was 47-31 with 4:15 left before Jefferson poured in nine consecutive points to end the frame and take a 56-31 advantage into the final quarter. The Rams converted at a 52.6% clip (10-of-19) during the period while limiting the Lions to just 28.6% (4-of-14). The difference never dipped below 20 in the fourth as Jefferson coasted to the win.
