PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (1-4) dropped a 15-8 decision to 10
th-ranked East Stroudsburg (5-1) on Saturday afternoon in the Rams' home opener at Ravenhill Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Warriors got out to a 3-0 lead before
Gabby Modzelewski and
Carina Raymond countered for Jefferson to cut it to 3-2 with 5:23 to go in the opening quarter. However, ESU took over and scored eight straight goals to finish the half and lead 11-2 at the intermission.
The Warriors continued their run to start the third quarter, netting the first goal of the period to make it a 10-goal advantage (12-2).
Erin Avanzato and
Madison Caffrey found the back of the net and the Rams trailed 12-4 with 4:41 on the clock. ESU answered with three in a row to go ahead 15-4 with 13:22 to go in the fourth. Jefferson ended the contest with four straight markers but the outcome was already determined.
