#13/21 Women's Basketball Cruises to Victory Over Goldey-Beacom 

  

PHILADELPHIA, PA - #13/21 Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball (6-1) played a dominant match against Goldey-Beacom College. The Rams controlled the match, working hard to maintain their lead as they coasted to a 69-52 victory over the Lighting.  

WHAT HAPPENED 

  • The Lighting kept a small lead at 7-4 after Lydia Betz, Katie Yoder, and Julie Kulesza all put up shots. The Rams quickly found their footing after Emily Spratt added four points of her own, taking the lead at 8-7.  

  • Emma Kuczynski is good for the next five points, while Yoder can only add two for the Lighting as they continue to trail behind in this first quarter 13-9. Kulesza added three points after making her layup and one of her free throws, but Gabby Recinto had a strong finish in the first half, adding five points to the Rams lead, 18-12.  

  • Rory Ciszkowski quickly finds success in the second quarter, making a three-point shot. The Rams respond by adding three after Tori Nigro is good for one of her free throws, and Carolyn Sipprell makes her shot with Jefferson ahead 21-15 

  • The Rams dominated throughout the rest of the quarter with shots from Nigro, Sipprell, and Recinto, while Kuczynski claimed seven points, and Spratt with four entering the third quarter with a 15-point lead.  

  • The Lighting gained momentum in the first few minutes of the quarter, adding seven points while the Rams added only four. Karlee Lemon was good for a three-pointer bringing the Lighting within 10 points of the Rams.  

  • Both teams traded baskets, but Jefferson continued to power through earning their biggest lead so far in this match at 55-37 to close out the third.  

  • Genesis Garcia, Gaia Zimbardo, and Kulesza continued to fight in this match collecting six for the Lighting early on. Nigro also had a strong start to the fourth quarter putting up four of her own as the Rams trailed ahead 59-41.  

  • Recinto, Spratt, and Kuczynski continued finding success for the Rams throughout the quarter, while Janice Ashong finished strong for Jefferson making her shot as the Rams collected the win over the Lighting.
