Women's Basketball Holds Off Felician

PHILADELPHIA – After Emily Spratt hit both of her free throws, the Rams defense held off the Golden Falcons attempt at a shot as Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball (8-5, 2-2) held onto a 59-56 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Felician University (6-10, 1-3) in Saturday afternoon competition. 

WHAT HAPPENED 

• The Rams controlled the first quarter as they scored 16 points to Felician's eight. They went 7-of-17 on the floor 

• Six Jefferson players' scored points in the first 10 minutes.  

• Cassie Murphy put up five of her team-leading 17 points during that duration. Kaci Mikulski nailed a three for Jefferson while Emma Kuczynski, Tori Nigro, Gabby Recinto, and Carolyn Sipprell all hit their shots for the Rams 

• Felician got onto a hot streak in the second quarter, outscoring the Rams 22-10. Jefferson made three shots during that period, with all three going on before the 8:19 mark. After that, the Rams went 0-11 on the court the rest of the second 

• The Golden Falcons went on an 17-0 run that put them ahead 28-22. The Rams got points up with Murphy and Kaya Burkhart going 1-2 at the free throw line while Emily Spratt made both of her attempts at the charity stripe. Jefferson went into the break down 30-26 

• The Rams picked up their momentum in the third with a 16-4 advantage over the Golden Falcons. Rams went 6-of-12 shooting 

• Murphy got five points during that period. Recinto made a three pointer, Sipprell delivered two baskets alongside Kuczynski. Jefferson went into the fourth up 42-23 

• The Golden Falcons competed in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Rams 22-17 

• Kuczynski put up 8 of her 16 points in the fourth to keep Jefferson ahead. Felician kept pushing, trailing by one point 57-56 with 37 seconds to go 

• Spratt hit two free throws to make it a three point lead for the Rams with 8 seconds in the game. Felician got the inbound but never attempted the shot, letting Jefferson escape the Gallagher Center 59-56
