No.11 Women's Soccer Ends Season At Franklin Pierce for Second Straight Year
RINDGE, N.H. – No.11 nationally-ranked Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer (17-3-1) looked to get their own revenge as they played in the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 for the second consecutive year against the same team that ended their run a season ago in second-seed in the East Region Franklin Pierce University (15-2-5) in Sunday afternoon action. The game stayed competitive throughout the whole match, but an opportunity for the Ravens led them to a 1-0 win over the Rams.
WHAT HAPPENED
- First half was competitive with Jefferson being on the defense during that time period as Franklin Pierce had an 8-2 advantage in the shot department. Carly Hayman made all four of her saves during the first half
- The second half continued the defensive trend, with the Rams keeping up in their opposition
- As the game looked to go into overtime, the Ravens went and took the ball to the net. A pass to the middle of the field saw it tipped by a Jefferson defender and go in the net for Franklin Pierce at the 83rd minute. The Rams weren't unable to attempt another shot in the final 8 minutes of action
