Four Rams Make United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Thomas Jefferson University keeps the accolades coming as the Rams had four soccer players earn United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Honors this morning.
Carly Yeager and
Nikki Dedes make First Team All-Region while
Gianna Garozzo and
Kyra Lesko secured Second Team recognition.
Yeager earns her third All-Region recognition in her career with this being her second straight First Team honors while making the Second Team in 2023. She has made 21 starts this season for the Rams. Yeager has helped the defense record 14 shutouts this season with a .700 shutout percentage, both tied for fifth in the nation. The three-time CACC Defensive Player of the Year has put pressure on opposing offenses, helping the squad allow 7.3 shots-per-game and .55 goals-per-game.
Dedes joins Yeager in her third instance on being on the All-Region Team, this marking her first on the First Team squad after making Second Team in 2024 and Third Team in 2022. Dedes sits atop the CACC in total points (34) while tying in assists (10) as she's top 5 in total goals, goals-per-game, points-per-game, and assists-per-game. The reigning CACC Player of the Year hit the 100-point milestone with two goals in the opening match of the NCAA Tournament. Dedes finished the season has 12 goals, 10 assists, 34 points, and 4 game-winning goals on the year. She has started in all 21 appearances for Jefferson.
Lesko garners her first All-Region recognition from the United Soccer Coaches in her career. She has played all 21 games for the Rams, making 20 starts. Lesko is second on the team in goals (10), second in total points (29) and third in assists (9). She has three game-winning goals this season for the Rams. Lesko was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) First Team squad for her play this season.
Garozzo ends her career with her first All-Region recognition. She has started all 21 games for the Rams. Garozzo is third on the team with nine goals while adding two assists, putting her at third with 20 points. She currently leads the team with four game-winning goals. Garozzo has two multi-goal games this season as well. This helped her make the CACC All-Second Team this season.
First Team members will now move on to the United Soccer Coaches All-America ballot, with the announcement being later this month.
