Women's Lacrosse Runs Away with 17-8 Victory Over Franklin Pierce
KEENE, N.H. – Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse (3-2) completed their New Hampshire trip as they took on Franklin Pierce University (2-3) in Wednesday afternoon action. The Rams put up nine first half goals and 14 through three quarters to secure a 17-8 win against the Ravens.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Jefferson started with the first four goals of the game beginning with Lindley Gori with 6:41 left in the first. Reagan Rogers and Iris Gluck joined alongside their teammate in a 2:25 minute span. Rogers put up her second goal to make it 4-0 Olivia Robb got the first score for Franklin Pierce at 1:54 minute mark as Jefferson was up 4-1 heading into the second quarter
- Emily Ryder and Meaghan Avanzato made their shots to begin the second and turned the game to a 6-1 advantage. Robb had her second goal for the Ravens at the 8:07 mark. Lilly Lutz responded just a little over a minute later with her own score. After Erin McIlroy had the game at 7-3, Taylor Hood and Gori completed the scoring barrage for the Rams, making it 9-3. The Ravens got two more goals from Courtney Hannes and Maura Cogavin as Jefferson went in the break up 9-5
- After Hannes opened the third with a goal for the Ravens, Jefferson went to score the next five goals. Taylor Hood and Avanzato made their shots with a man up while Gori and Ryder made their shots later in the third. Rogers had her third goal of the day with a man down to get the Rams ahead 14-6. Julianna Lanzillo had the final goal of the quarter for Franklin Pierce, making it 14-7 in favor of Jefferson heading into the final quarter
- Rogers put up two more goals, making it five on the day for her, while Hood had her third on the evening to have it at 17-7 and making the clock run continuously. The Ravens eventually stopped it with 1:28 to go with a goal to make it a nine point contest. Jefferson cruised the rest of the way to win 17-8
- Rogers led the team with five goals while Hood and Gori had a hat trick of their own. Avanzato and Ryder put up two goals apiece while I. Gluck and Lutz had one shot hit the back of the net. Lutz put up four assists with Hood following behind with three. Gori and I. Gluck had seven ground balls each, with Gori earning four caused turnovers and I. Gluck grabbing four draw controls. Ava Sztenderowicz had five draw controls of her own on the day
- Kalyn Ammerlaan took the win as she had two saves on the evening. Victoria Rossi made an appearance in the net, earning four saves on the day
