Box Score NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Philadelphia University
Rams baseball team (1-7, 0-1 CACC) fell 9-1 to Wilmington
University in their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
(CACC) win of the season, on Wednesday afternoon at Wilson
Field. The game was the opening round of the Bill Giles
Invitational, which the Wildcats will now advance to the
Championship game on Tuesday, April 14th at Citizen's
Bank Ball Park in Philadelphia, PA.
Junior shortstop Tyler Mentzer (Gettysburg, PA/
Delone Catholic) gave PhilaU a 1-0 jolt in the top of the first, as
he drove home senior outfielder Dan Ellmer
(Trenton, NJ/Nottingham).
Wilmington tied the game at one in the bottom of the inning and
added two more in the second and another two in the third to take a
5-1 lead. A three-run fifth gave the hosts an 8-1 lead and a
RBI single in the seventh put Wilmington ahead 9-1, which would be
the final tally.
The Rams return to action to host West Chester on Monday, March
16th at 3:00 p.m.
