Box Score Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
baseball team (3-9, 0-1 CACC) got a 10-4 win at Chestnut Hill
College (3-10) on Wednesday night in a non-conference single
game. The Rams used 18 hits to get their third win of the
season, as CHC committed eight errors in the contest.
The Ram's first two runs were the result of CHC errors in the
second inning, as PhilaU took a 2-0 lead. The Griffins
responded with two runs on two hits in the bottom of the fourth,
but PhilaU was just getting started.
PhilaU junior shortstop Tyler Mentzer
(Gettysburg, PA/ Delone Catholic) doubled in an RBI in the top of
the fifth, and scored on a throwing error by the CHC shortstop
later in the inning. Senior pitcher/outfielder Kyle
Noonan (Morristown, NJ/ Morristown) was hit by a pitch and
then stole home to give the Ram's a 5-2
edge.
The Griffins added another run in both the eighth and ninth
innings, but PhilaU went on a five-run scoring binge in the top of
the ninth keyed by five hits and three CHC errors to complete the
10-4 victory.
PhilaU winning pitcher Brian Rousseau (Wantagh,
NY/ Wantagh) went seven innings, allowing just two runs and
striking out five.
The Rams return to action on Friday, March 20th vs.
Merrimack in a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Alumni
Field.
