Rams Nearly Comeback in 5-3 Late Inning Loss

West Chester, PA- The Philadelphia University baseball team (1-5) faced West Chester University (11-3) for the third time this season, but could not stop the Golden Rams in a 5-3 loss on Wednesday afternoon at Serpico Stadium. 

Senior infielder Rob Fisher (Langhorne, PA/ Archbishop Ryan) singled up the middle with two outs in the ninth and the bases loaded, but only one run would score before junior third baseman Anthony DiFrancesco (Landenberg, PA/ Salesianum) would be out at third base to end the ball game.

Junior hurler Kevin McGovern (Philadelphia, PA/ Archbishop Ryan) would throw eight innings for the Rams, who suffered his first loss of the season after allowing 10 hits.

WCU's winning pitcher, Ryan Kreider notched three strikeouts in two innings pitched, while Craig Carroll went the distance in 6.2 innings, getting nine KO's and allowing three hits.

At the plate, the Rams totaled five hits as Fisher would rack up a team-high two RBIs. 

The maroon and grey return to action on Friday (3/12) vs. Merrimack at home on Alumni Field for a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.
