Box Score 2 North Wales, PA-The Philadelphia University
baseball team (2-9, 1-1 CACC) dropped a doubleheader to conference
rival Chestnut Hill College (6-6, 2-0 CACC) on Wednesday night at
Hostelley Field. The Rams fell 9-1 in the first game and 6-3
in the night cap.
The Rams lone run in the first game, a 9-1 loss, came in the
eighth inning as senior shortstop Tyler Mentzer
(Gettysburg, PA/ Delone Catholic) smacked a solo shot. In
that game, freshman pitcher Russell Trojan (Springfield, PA/
Cardinal O'Hara) took the loss, going five innings and giving
up three earned runs with one strikeout.
In game two, all three runs came in the third inning for the
Rams. Freshman outfielder Mike Ross (Newtown
Square, PA/ Marple Newtown) got on with a single and Mentzer
brought him in on an RBI single. Freshman utility
Jeff Bohus (Cherry Hill, NJ/ Cherry Hill East)
followed up with a two-run double. Sophomore pitcher
Alejandro Martinez (Mexico City, MX/ Cumbres
Institute) went three innings for PhilaU and took the loss, giving
up six earned runs and striking out one.
The Rams return to action in a conference twin bill on Saturday
(3/27) at 12:00 p.m. vs. Bloomfield College at Alumni Field.
