Box Score 2 Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia University baseball team (2-12, 1-3 CACC) exchanged a 6-5 win and a 6-5 loss in a double header on the road at Bloomfield College (6-16, 2-2 CACC), 6-5 and 5-6. Senior third baseman Anthony DiFrancesco hit the game winning homerun in the top of the ninth for the first game, he came away with three runs and an RBI for the day.
In game one, scoring began with an RBI single off sophomore utility Jeffrey Bohus in the fourth, scoring freshman center fielder Rick Reigner. The top of the sixth saw three runs for PhilaU off a single from Reigner and one from senior catcher Matt Minakowski, resulting in two RBIs. Bloomfield set to even the match in the eighth as they scored three, tying the match 5-5.
The score would be settled in the top of the ninth as DiFrancesco sent one deep to raise the score 6-5. Three quick outs in the ninth gave PhilaU the win.
In game two, PhilaU would remain scoreless until the seventh with an RBI single off freshman utility John Sczepanski. Two runs per inning after would get the Rams within one, but BC pulled away with the win, 6-5.
Bohus went 5-7 on the day hitting and DiFrancesco went 5-8.
On the mound, senior pitcher Kevin McGovern took the win in game one while sophomore Russell Trojan took game two's loss.
The Ram's next contest brings them home to face East Stroudsburg University on Tuesday (3/29), time TBA.
