Baseball Sinks to Chestnut Hill, 14-4

Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia University baseball team (4-22, 2-9 CACC) succumbed to the Chestnut Hill Griffins (9-17, 5-6 CACC) in a 14-4 loss Thursday afternoon in a home CACC game. Sophomore utility Jeffrey Bohus went 2-3 on the day scoring once with an RBI.

The Rams did not see a run cross the plate until the bottom of the sixth inning when CHC  already lead 7-0. Bohus came to the plate with runners on second and third. His single scored rookie outfielder Rick Reigner while advancing senior catcher Matt Minakowski to third. A two-bag hit by junior utility Joe Thayres brought the two men home to make it a 7-3 game.

PhilaU saw more trouble as CHC increased their lead to 14-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth. Sophomore outfielder Jordan Force hit a single to center field to bring sophomore second baseman Kevin Giambri home from third. All runners would remain stranded as the final out ended the game at 14-4.

Pitching for PhilaU was Bohus who served 5.1 innings on the mound, taking the loss. CC's Weber claimed the win.

Up next for PhilaU baseball is a CACC double header at Post University on Saturday (4/16) starting at 12:00 p.m.
