Box Score 2 Waterbury, CT- Philadelphia University baseball (4-24, 2-11 CACC) dropped their double-header on the road at Post University (18-10, 7-3 CACC) Saturday. Senior shortstop Anthony DiFrancesco drove in the first run for PhilaU in game 2 and later scored.
In Game 1 the Rams saw all 9 base runners stranded as Post commanded with 10 strikeouts and 24 putouts. The Eagles put up the lone run of the game late in the second inning as Dieguez scored on a sacrifice bunt off Jahn. Senior pitcher Kevin McGovern allowed only two hits on the day while striking out seven. His efforts would remain unmatched on the scoreboard as he took the loss in the 1-0 game.
Game 2 remained low scoring in the favor of the Eagles. PhilaU drove in two runs in a late game comeback attempt in the eighth. DiFrancesco hit an RBI double bringing sophomore infielder Kevin Giambri home from second. The Rams kept their momentum going as sophomore outfielder Jordan Force stepped to the plate hitting a single that led DiFrancesco to score. With the board reading 4-2, the Rams sought to even the score in the ninth. Junior utility Joe Thayres and freshman catcher TJ Burgmann found themselves on base but were left stranded as Post delivered the final out to end the game.
The winning pitcher on the mound for Post was Jeans with sophomore Russell Trojan taking the loss for PhilaU.
