Men's Tennis Takes Out Merrimack in First Round of NCAA Regionals

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University men's tennis team took out Merrimack College in the first round of the NCAA Men's Tennis East Regionals on Sunday. This marks the second NCAA victory for the PhilaU men's team.

In doubles, junior Ryan Christopher along with his partner sophomore Kyle Burke were the first to finish with an 8-4 win. Following next was the pairing of juniors Manoli Sgouros and Adrian Torroella-Cruz who also claimed an 8-4 win. Fighting hard at the #3 doubles spot were the seniors Seppi Hutter and Tom McAvoy would came out on top with a 9-8 victory.

Two PhilaU players needed to pick up wins in the singles to claim the match. First to finish was Christopher at the #4 spot taking out his opponent 6-2, 6-2. Merrimack came back with a win at #2, but the Rams would finish out strong as #1 Toroella-Cruz won 6-4, 6-0.
