Rams defeated by Millersville, 20-2

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University baseball team closed out its three-game series against Millersville with a 20-2 loss Sunday afternoon on Alumni Field.

Freshman designated hitter Brooks Slotterback (Richmond, Va./Collegiate School) drove in both Philadelphia (2-6-1) runs with a bases loaded single to left-center field. Slotterback's first collegiate hit drove in sophomore left fielder Jack Madnick (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland), who singled, and junior shortstop Chris Pelaez (Miami, Fla./Sunset), who was hit by a pitch.

The Marauders (11-4) used multiple big innings in their 15-hit attack. Mark Stuckey hit a three-run homer to left during a five-run first inning. Jeff Heisey had a two-run single, while Evan King and Kurt Seiders each had RBI base hit in the fourth. In the sixth, Millersville sent 11 batters to the plate as it scored six more times.

Eight different Rams recorded a base hit, including a double from sophomore designated hitter Ken McCormick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) and senior first baseman Jeff Bohus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill E.).

Zach Stone paced Millersville with a 4-for-5 day at the dish.

The Marauders' Tad Barton struck out five over seven shutout innings to get the victory. Sophomore pitcher David Lerro took the loss for Philadelphia.

The Rams hit the road and begin their southern swing with a doubleheader at Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday, March 12 at noon.
