Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team picked up its first win of its spring break trip with a 6-3 victory over Ithaca on Wednesday afternoon.
Kyle Burke (Wakfield, R.I./South Kingston) earned the first point of the day for Philadelphia (3-6) with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Zach Lipson in the No. 1 singles match. Long Vo (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) was able to fend off David Andersen in a tiebreak, 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (12-10) to claim the No. 5 match. In the No. 6 flight, Chris Casamassima (Franklin Sqaure, N.Y./St. Mary's) picked up his team-leading fourth singles win with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over David Keltz. Ayman Barakat (Kharkiv, Ukraine/Khariv Specialized English School #3) claimed the last singles point by taking out Griffin Reid in the No. 2 match, 7-5, 6-1.
The No. 1 doubles team of Burke and Casamassima clinched the match for the Rams as they defeated Andersen and Lipson, 8-2. Nail Rachidi (Meknes, Morocco/Emile Anouar) and Barakat teamed up to earn a win in the No. 2 match, 8-4 over Chris Hayes and Reid.
Philadelphia finishes its trip on Thursday, March 14 with a match against the University of Charleston at 11:30 a.m.
