WILSON, N.C. – The Philadelphia University baseball team wrapped up its southern swing by getting swept by host Barton in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. Game one's score was 10-0 and the nightcap was 9-6.

In the second game, Philadelphia (3-13-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a RBI fielder's choice off the bat of junior third baseman Chris Pelaez (Miami, Fla./Sunset) and a failed pickoff attempt that plated junior first baseman Jordan Force (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen).

After giving a run back in the third, the Rams tacked on two more runs in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. Junior right fielder Shane Yoshiyama (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) had a RBI single. On the same play, junior second baseman John Sczepanski (Lafayette Hill, Pa./La Salle College HS) also scored on a throwing error.

Barton (8-13) took control of the game as it sent 12 batters to the plate and scored eight times in the bottom of the fifth. Mitchell Wheeler had a two-run double during the inning.

Sophomore shortstop Hunter Greenwood (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) went deep in the sixth to bring home two runs. It was his second home run of the season.

Junior catcher TJ Burgmann (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College HS), Greenwood, Force, and Sczepanski all had two hits in the game for the Rams. The Bulldogs' Dillon Rudio and Avery Harper were 2-for-3 at the plate.

Christian Oliver was the winning pitcher in a relief role. He gave up two runs on four hits in 1.2 innings of work. Zach Beachem threw a scoreless seventh to get the save.

In the opener, sophomore left fielder Ken McCormick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) recorded two of the Rams' five hits.

Rudio went 2-for-4, including a grand slam in the fifth, for the Bulldogs. Collins Cuthrell hit a two-run homer and Phillip Cotton had a two-run double in the first inning. Harper drove in two runs with a base hit in the second.

Phillip Williams earned the win as he scattered four hits in five innings.
