Box Score 2 LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Philadelphia University baseball team scored three times in the top of the 10th inning to earn a 4-1 extra innings victory over Felician to get a split of its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader Sunday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. The Golden Falcons won the second game, 14-2.
Junior first baseman Jordan Force (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) delivered in the clutch with a two-out, two-run single in the 10th to give the Rams (14-22-1, 8-6 CACC) a 3-1 lead. The eventual game-winning hit brought home junior center fielder Rick Reigner (Havertown, Pa./Monsignor Bonner)—who started the inning with a triple—and junior pinch runner Ryan Shellock (Blackwood, N.J./Triton) who came into the game after senior designated hitter Jeff Bohus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill E.) drew an intentional walk.
Junior second baseman John Sczepanski (Lafayette Hill, Pa./La Salle College of HS) singled home Force to add an insurance run.
The teams traded runs in the sixth inning. Sophomore right fielder Ken McCormick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) scored Philadelphia's run on a wild pitch, while Felician () got on the board with a sacrifice fly by Steve DeJong.
Bohus and Force each recorded two of the Rams' nine hits. Five Golden Falcons had one hit each.
Stephen Uhlak (Ocean Gate, N.J./Central Reg.) earned the win by throwing a perfect ninth inning in relief of freshman starter Casey O'Donnell (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham). Freshman closer Luke Floer (Brewster, N.Y./North Salem) recorded his sixth save of the season with a 1-2-3 10th inning.
Jack Fowler took the loss.
Felician took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Mike Farrell ground out.
In the top of the second, Philadelphia answered with a Force RBI single and a RBI fielder's choice off the bat of junior left fielder Shane Yoshiyama (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) to take a 2-1 lead.
The Golden Falcons scored 13 unanswered runs—two in the second, three in the fourth, one in the sixth, four in the seventh, and three in the eighth.
Chris Faber led Felician by going 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Faber recorded two two-run inside the park home runs, one in the second and one in the seventh. Aaron Brill was 4-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Force and Sczepanski had two hits a piece. The Rams had eight hits in the game.
Stephen Paladino was the winning pitcher as he turned in seven innings of two-run—one earned—eight hit ball. Freshman starter Cory Dean (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) suffered the loss.
Philadelphia heads to Citizens Bank Park to face Wilmington (Del.) in the championship game of the Bill Giles Invitational on Tuesday, April 16 at 3:30 p.m.
