Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University baseball team was defeated by visiting University of the Sciences, 18-1, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Thursday afternoon on Alumni Field.
Philadelphia is now 15-23-1 overall and 8-7 in the CACC, while USciences moves to 13-19 overall and 5-11 against the conference.
Senior designated hitter Jeff Bohus (Cherry Hill, N.J/Cherry Hill E.) drove in the Rams' lone run in the fourth with a base hit to right field that scored sophomore right fielder Ken McCormick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury), who tripled one at-bat earlier.
Junior left fielder Shane Yoshiyama (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School), junior catcher TJ Burgmann (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College HS), freshman second baseman Michael Treglia (Danbury, Conn./Danbury), and junior third baseman Chris Pelaez (Miami, Fla./Miami-Sunset) all had one hit for Philadelphia.
The Devils were led by Ronnie Petito's 5-for-6, seven-RBI afternoon. Petito had a bases-loaded double in the first, a RBI-triple in the second, and RBI singles in the fourth and fifth.
C.J. Hertz went 3-for-4 at the plate, including a three-run double to right field in the fourth, and finished with four RBIs. Kyle Davis hit a three-run home run to left field in the eighth inning.
The Devils ended the contest with 17 hits.
Pablo Matos earned the complete game victory as he allowed just the one run on six hits. Sophomore starter David Lerro (Secane, Pa./Upper Darby ) took the loss.
Philadelphia travels to Bloomfield for a CACC doubleheader on Saturday, April 20. First pitch is slated for noon.
