Box Score 2 CALDWELL, N.J. – The Philadelphia University baseball team suffered a pair of losses to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Caldwell, 11-5 and 6-0, Saturday afternoon at Kiwanis Oval.
The Rams are now 13-16-1 overall and 7-3 in CACC play. Caldwell improves to 7-17 overall and 7-3 against the conference.
In the first game, the Cougars jumped out to a 9-0 lead by scoring twice in the second and four times in the fourth. Thomas Pisano had one RBI in each inning, while Tom Todaro knocked in two runs with a fourth-inning single.
Philadelphia got on the board in the sixth on a throwing error that allowed junior center fielder Rick Reigner (Havertown, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) to come home from second.
Down 11-1 in the ninth, the Rams pushed four runs across. Reigner brought home two runs on a single to right, while sophomore shortstop Hunter Greenwood (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) had a run-producing single.
Reigner finished the game 3-for-5, and Greenwood went 2-for-5. The Rams had 12 hits.
Todaro ended up with four RBIs.
Dan Bartlett earned the win after allowing just one unearned run over seven innings on seven hits. Sophomore starter David Lerro (Secane, Pa./Upper Darby) took the loss. Lerro fanned six in 3.1 innings.
In the second game, Philadelphia got just six hits off of Caldwell's Michael Sheridan, who threw a complete game. Sophomore right fielder Ken McCormick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) had two of the Rams' hits.
Anthony Morena recorded a two-run double during a three-run third inning for the Cougars. After getting a single run in the sixth, Phil Ragusa and Pisano added RBI singles in the seventh.
Pisano wrapped up game two 3-for-4.
Freshman starter Casey O'Donnell (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) suffered the loss for the Rams.
Philadelphia travels to Bloomsburg for a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m.
