Rams fall to Bloomsburg, 24-6

PHILADELPHIA – Senior first baseman Jeff Bohus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill E.) and junior left fielder Jordan Force (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) recorded two hits each for the Philadelphia University baseball team in its 24-6 non-conference loss to Bloomsburg Tuesday afternoon on Alumni Field.

Bohus and Force each had a RBI single in the Rams' (13-19-1) half of the first inning to help bring the team within 5-3. In the fifth inning, Force recorded his second RBI base hit of the game.

Freshman shortstop Axel Rivera (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/The Perkiomen School) contributed a run-producing triple during the fourth inning that brought home freshman third baseman Brooks Slotterback (Richmond, Va./Collegiate School), who singled in the previous at-bat.

Ten different players had at least one hit for Bloomsburg, led by a 3-for-6, six-RBI afternoon from Brian Almand. Almand hit a two-run single in the fourth, and added a bases-loaded double in the top of the ninth.

Joey Casselberry and Brad Smith contributed three hits and three RBIs each. Smith connected for a two-run home run to left field in the second.

Cody Heane earned the victory with one inning of relief. Philadelphia's freshman starter Desmond Drummond (Philadelphia, Pa./GAMP) took the loss. Drummond struck out one in 3.2 innings.

Philadelphia welcomes Dominican (N.Y.) to Alumni Field for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader on Wednesday, April 10 at 2 p.m.
