PHILADELPHIA – Pitchers Rob Spragis (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) and Joe Sabatino (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) each turned in a complete-game effort as the Philadelphia University baseball team picked up a Senior Day sweep of visiting Bloomsburg, 9-1 and 5-1, Sunday on Alumni Field.

Philadelphia improves to 17-21 overall, while Bloomsburg dips to 28-18.

Prior to first pitch, the team honored its nine-member class made up of TJ Burgmann (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College HS), Joseph Capparelli (Miami, Fla./Sunset), Jordan Force (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen), Chris Pelaez (Miami, Fla./Miami), Rick Reigner (Havertown, Pa./Monsignor Bonner), John Sczepanski (Lafayette Hill, Pa./La Salle College HS), Ryan Shellock (Blackwood, N.J./Triton), Shane Yoshiyama (Honolulu, Hawaii), and Spragis.

GAME ONE
Spragis scattered just seven hits over seven innings and struck out two Huskies to record his second win of the season (2-1). The lone blemish against Spragis came in the seventh inning when Brian Almand hit lead-off home run to make the score 9-1.

The Philadelphia offense gave Spragis plenty of run support, scoring seven times in the first three innings. The big inning came in the third when the Rams scored four times on RBI singles from Sczepanski and Burgmann, a Yoshiyama sacrifice fly, and a double by shortstop Hunter Greenwood (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) to make the score 7-0.

Philadelphia tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning to push the lead to 9-0. Greenwood and Pelaez started the inning with a hit by pitch and a double, respectively. Force was able to single Greenwood home in the next at-bat. Designated hitter Ken McCormick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) immediately followed with a sacrifice fly to allow Pelaez to score the ninth run.

Sczepanski and Burgmann paced the Philadelphia offense, which pounded out 11 hits, with 3-for-4 efforts at the plate.

McCormick went 0-for-3 with an RBI and had his 18-game hitting streak and his string out reaching base in 21 straight games come to an end.

Eric Frain and Brady West had two hits each for Bloomsburg.

Nick Donofry took the loss (0-2) as he allowed four runs on four hits in 2.1 innings.

GAME TWO
Sabatino, making his first start since March 27, turned in a strong performance as he fanned a career-high six hitters and scattered eight hits for his first collegiate win (1-2).

The Huskies managed to take a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Corey Baiada delivered a two-out single to score Brad Smith from third.

Philadelphia came back in a big way with a four-run third inning to grab a 4-1 advantage. Reigner came through with a one-out, two RBI single and Greenwood added a RBI double. Alert base running by Greenwood allowed him to score from third when Pelaez, who reached base on a single, got caught in a rundown between first and second for the fourth run.

Burgmann capped off his senior day by hitting his first collegiate home run to lead off the fifth inning and extend the gap to 5-1.

Sczepanski and Reigner both went 2-for-3 for Philadelphia.

Bloomsburg was led by a 4-for-4 effort from Frain.
