NORTH WALES, Pa. - The Thomas Jefferson University baseball team split a pair of conference games with host Chestnut Hill on Monday evening. The Rams are 10-6 overall and 7-3 in the CACC.
 
GAME ONE - L, 10-5
Jefferson opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the first inning. Richard Joa singled up the middle, scoring Alex Gonzalez, and Ryan Coyle came home on an error. The Griffins evened the score in the bottom of the frame on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly.
 
Chestnut Hill took the lead in the second with a three-run homer. Another run scored on a wild pitch in the third to make it 6-2. The Griffins increased the margin to six in the fourth with a RBI single and a run-scoring error. A sac fly in the sixth made the score 9-2.
 
The Rams got back on the board in the seventh with a pair of runs scoring on a wild pitch. The final CHC run came in the eighth on a fielder's choice. Ryan Sawyer plated a Jefferson run in the ninth with an infield single.

GAME TWO - W, 6-4
Richard Joa put the Rams in front early with a two-run shot to right in the first. The Griffins quickly countered however, recording an RBI single and scoring on an error in the bottom half to tie the game.
 
Chestnut Hill went ahead 3-2 in the third after a sacrifice fly but Jefferson responded in the fourth with an RBI base hit by Zack Austin. The Rams surged in front for good on a two-run single by Ryan Sawyer in the sixth. An RBI double in the bottom of the sixth got the Griffins within one but Ryan Coyle added an insurance run with a base knock in the seventh. Matt Bukavich retired the side in the bottom half to pick up his second save.
