BENSALEM, Pa. - The Thomas Jefferson University softball team put up 26 runs and swept a CACC doubleheader at Holy Family on Tuesday. The Rams upped their record to 5-3.
 
GAME ONE - W, 11-4
Winnai Hoyt led off the opener with an infield single and came around to score on a double by Emily Akelaitis. The Tigers responded with a two-run homer in the bottom half to take the lead. Victoria Juckniewitz evened the score for Jefferson in the second with a RBI single up the middle.
 
In the third, HFU went back in front, 3-2, on a RBI base hit but the Rams went off for five runs in the fourth to go ahead 7-3. Hoyt singled in a pair of runs before scoring on an error and Akelaitis blasted a two-run shot to left center.
 
Hoyt broke it open for Jefferson in the fifth, smacking a two-out, three-run triple to make it 10-3. The Tigers added their last run on a solo home run in the sixth and the Rams made it 11-4 on Dallas Urban's RBI double in the seventh.

GAME TWO - W, 15-2 (5 inn.)
Holy Family took the lead in the first with two runs on a fielder's choice and a single. Jefferson quickly came back with an eight-run second to go in front. Samantha Hurtado drew a bases-loaded walk, Dallas Urban doubled in two, Hoyt and Murphy had consecutive RBI singles, Emily Akelaitis drove in two with a base hit, and Cayla Kalani scored on a fielder's choice.
 
Akelaitis plated two more in the third with a double to left center to make it 10-2. The Rams tacked on five in the fifth as Egher knocked in two with a single, Julia Heine and Sage Bolonski scored on an error, and Hoyt plated Juckniewitz with an infield hit. Gianna DeLorenzo then recorded three more outs in the bottom half of the inning to end the game early due to the eight-run rule.
