PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team (5-9, 4-2 CACC) won both games of a conference doubleheader at Chestnut Hill on Thursday.
GAME ONE – W, 11-2
The Rams opened the scoring in the second inning with
Annie Eliason scoring on a bunt by
Emily Kuberski. In the third,
Dallas Urban came home on a fielder's choice and
Sam Gomez scored on a groundout to make it 3-0.
The Griffins got on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the third to get within two (3-1). Both teams pushed a run across in the fourth, Jefferson on a sacrifice fly and Chestnut Hill with an RBI double. The Rams upped the advantage to four (6-2) in the sixth.
Julia Heine smacked a solo home run and
Anna Akelaitis drove in Urban with a base hit.
Jefferson pulled away with a five-run seventh. Gomez knocked in a pair of runs with a single, Eliason plated Gomez with a base hit, and
Ali Murphy hit a two-run single.
Gianna DeLorenzo retired the Griffins in the bottom half to finish off the complete-game win.

GAME TWO – W, 6-1
Both teams scored a run in the opening frame.
Emily Akelaitis hit a two-out RBI double to left center to put the Rams ahead 1-0 before the Griffins evened it up with a sacrifice fly. Jefferson went back in front in the third on an error.
Julia Heine blasted a two-run homer in the fifth, her second of the afternoon, to up the Rams' lead to three (4-1).
Jefferson tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the seventh.
Sage Bolonski scored
Ali Murphy with a base hit to left center and later came home on a groundout.
