Molloy Offense Too Much For Softball In Pair of Losses

PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team (11-21) lost both games of a non-conference doubleheader versus Molloy on Sunday.
 
GAME ONE – L, 13-3 (6 inn.)
The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the opening frame on Julia Heine's RBI single up the middle. The Lions came back with two in the top of the second to go in front. They recorded an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. An RBI groundout in the third upped the Molloy advantage to two (3-1).
 
The Lions broke it open with a five-run fourth. Molloy used a two-run single, two-run triple, and an error to make it 8-1. Jefferson closed to within five (8-3) in the bottom of the inning. Annalise Pudimott homered to left field and Annie Eliason scored on Remy Smith's groundout.
 
Molloy put up another five-run inning in the sixth. The Lions posted three RBI doubles and an RBI single while also scoring on an error. Molloy retired the Rams in order in the bottom half to end the game due to the eight-run rule.

GAME TWO – L, 12-5
Molloy got on the board in the first with an RBI single and a run on a wild pitch to go ahead 2-0. The Lions increased the margin to seven with five runs in the third. In the bottom of the frame, Sam Gomez doubled in a pair then scored on Kayla Warren's groundout to make it 7-3.
 
Molloy added two each in the fourth and fifth innings to take an 11-3 advantage, putting the Lions on the cusp of ending the game after five. However, Ellie Egher led off the bottom of the fifth with a home run to left to keep the contest going. Both squads pushed across a run in the seventh with Jefferson's coming on an RBI base hit by Emily Kuberski.
