BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team (8-8, 3-1 CACC) split a conference doubleheader at Bloomfield (4-20, 1-1 CACC) on Sunday.
GAME ONE – W, 4-2
The Bears scored in the opening frame via a bases-loaded walk to take a 1-0 lead. Bloomfield threatened for more with just one out but
Gianna DeLorenzo came in and recorded a strikeout and fly out to keep it a one-run game.
The Rams tied the score in the third on
Victoria Juckniewitz's two-out RBI single. The teams remained even until the sixth when Jefferson plated three runs to take a 4-1 advantage.
Ali Murphy and
Julia Heine registered back-to-back RBI singles then
Winnai Hoyt's sacrifice fly brought the third run of the frame home.
The Bears cut the deficit to two with a sac fly in the bottom of the sixth. DeLorenzo conceded a baserunner in the seventh but closed out the victory.

GAME TWO – L, 2-0
The two squads combined for just five hits in the nightcap as Bloomfield was the only one able to scratch out a run. Jefferson's best opportunity came in the first with runners at second and third and one out. However, a pair of strikeouts ended the chance. The Bears pushed across both of their runs in the fourth inning. Bloomfield recorded an RBI groundout before scoring on an error.
