PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team (16-22, 10-14 CACC) concluded the regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Post (14-34, 6-16 CACC) on Tuesday to remain in the playoff hunt entering the last day of conference play on Wednesday.
GAME ONE – W, 5-1
The Rams struck first in the third inning on
Emily Akelaitis's two-out RBI double. However, the Eagles responded and evened the score in the fourth on an RBI single. Jefferson regained the advantage in the fifth on
Sam Gomez's single up the middle that scored
Bridget Shields.
The Rams pulled away with three more runs in the sixth.
Winnai Hoyt smacked an RBI triple to right center, Gomez followed with another RBI base hit, and then Akelaitis hit another run-scoring double into the gap in left center.
Gianna DeLorenzo finished off the complete-game win in the seventh, allowing just one run and five hits in the circle.

Jefferson continued the momentum early in the nightcap, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening frame on an RBI single by
Ellie Egher. Post tied the score in the fourth on a wild pitch before going ahead in the sixth with an RBI single.
Now trailing 2-1,
Gianna DeLorenzo got out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam with a strikeout and a flyout, setting up the Rams to take the lead for good with a four-run sixth.
Annabella Zito evened the score with an RBI single to left center before
Annalise Pudimott sent a base hit up the middle to put the Rams ahead 3-2.
Sam Gomez added a two-out, two-run double to right to up the margin to three (5-2). DeLorenzo retired the Eagles in order in the seventh to earn her second victory of the day.

Jefferson will be scoreboard watching on Wednesday as the Rams need help to qualify for the CACC Tournament. Jefferson will advance to the postseason only if Goldey-Beacom loses both games of its doubleheader at Dominican.
