Baseball Holds off Bald Eagles Rally, Wins 11-5 Over Lock Haven 


WILSON, N.C. - After going up 4-0, the Bald Eagles would tie the game at 5-5 at the top of the fifth. Thomas Jefferson University baseball team (3-1) would then score six runs the rest of the way while not allowing another run as the Rams won 11-5 over Lock Haven University (3-3) in the final day of the Wilson Tobs Tournament. 

WHAT HAPPENED 
Jefferson got out early in the bottom of the first inning. With the bases loaded, Josh Lopez delivered a homerun for the Rams, putting them out to an early 4-0 lead after the first. Sean Morgan would hold the Bald Eagles for the next few innings. 

Lock Haven would eventually get on the board, having a three run homerun in the top of the fourth to get within one score of the Rams. Jefferson would add a run in the bottom of the fourth. Gabe Silva would get on base by walk. He would steal second and third before getting to home plate on a sacrifice fly by Chris McLean, adding to the Rams lead to have it at 5-3. 

Lock Haven would get two scores in the top of the fifth, evening it at 5-5. Jefferson would respond with two runs of their own. Aiden Barbour, who subbed in in the fifth and earned the victory for Jefferson, got them out to hold a tie for the Rams. After Marquise Wood walked and stole second, Silva would hit a triple to send him home and add a score for the Rams. McClean would add a double to the mix, bringing Silva home to give Jefferson a 7-5 lead. Abixael Sosa would come in and shut out the Bald Eagles in the sixth. 

Jefferson would get more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Wood, with the bases loaded, would get a walk that brought Joshua Lopez home. Silva would hit a double afterwards, bringing Alex Gonzalez and Diego Santiago to home as the Rams held a 10-5 lead. One more run in the bottom of the eighth brought Jo. Lopez home to eventually end the game at 11-5 in favor of Jefferson.
