Baseball Takes Close Doubleheader Over Felician
PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University baseball team (19-10, 8-4) hosted Felician University (18-17, 8-4) this weekend where the Rams took the doubleheader over the Golden Falcons in Sunday afternoon competition. Jefferson won each game by one run, a 7-6 victory in game one while edging out Felician 3-2 in game two.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 7-6
The Golden Falcons went ahead and racked three runs off a fielding error in left field in the first inning to jump ahead in the first game. Jefferson responded with five of their own runs.
Marquise Wood single through the left side brought two runners to home plate, and a wild pitch got him home to even the match at 3-3.
Gabe Silva drove a single through the right side to drive another run in, and
Justin Espinal added one more with his own single, this time to left field, that got the contest at 5-3.
Felician got a run in the third and fourth inning, evening the match out at 5-5. The Rams retook the lead from a
Chris McLean double to right center in the bottom of the fourth. The Rams added another in the fifth as a Silva sacrifice fly got Wood to homeplate and made it 7-5. Felician was able to get a score in the sixth inning, but were denied a chance to put one more up as the Rams held on to a 7-6 win in game one.

The second matchup of the doubleheader began similarly to the first with Felician getting out ahead, this time with a homerun in the second inning. Jefferson responded similarly as well from game one, scoring three runs in the bottom of the second. A Silva single through the left side plus a throwing error got
Joshua Lopez to homeplate for the first run.
Diego Santiago nailed his own single to the right side, bringing in another runner to homeplate. Jordan Tiburico got another run for Jefferson, hitting a single to left field for Santiago to make it to homeplate and have it at 3-1 in favor of Jefferson.
The next three innings went scoreless, as
Albert Bobadilla held the Golden Falcons scoreless during that time as he pitched a complete game for Jefferson. Felician was able to respond in the sixth with a sacrifice fly that got it to a one score game. The Golden Falcons had one last opportunity to get a run in the seventh, but all three batters went out as a strike out and two grounded outs completed the doubleheader in favor of the Rams 3-2.
