Baseball Concludes Season; Drops NCAA East Regional to Southern New Hampshire

HOOKSETT, N.H. – Thomas Jefferson University baseball (33-17) looked to force two more games in the NCAA East Regional I to advance in the tournament, but were unable to stop the Penmen who hit four homeruns in the match as the Rams ended their historic season with a 5-2 defeat to Southern New Hampshire (34-17).

WHAT HAPPENED
The Penmen started right out of the gate with a two-run homerun in the top of the second inning, putting them ahead early on. After going out in three batters in the first two innings, Jefferson responded as Alex Gonzalez advanced to Homeplate on a wild pitch to put a score up for the Rams and have them trail 2-1. Southern New Hampshire responded directly in the third inning, hitting a solo homerun to get their lead back up to two.

After getting a single up the middle and reaching third on a throwing error by the Penmen, Joshua Lopez made another run for Jefferson off a Gabe Silva single to the right field. The Rams trailed 3-2 after four innings, still within striking distance of a lead change against Southern New Hampshire. The Penmen held off the Rams offense the rest of the way, allowing only two hits while hitting two homeruns in the top of the sixth inning. Jefferson reached as close as second base in the next five innings, but could not score as the Rams dropped the second matchup 5-2 to Southern New Hampshire.
