Jefferson Softball Falls to Wilmington
NEW CASTLE, DEL. – Jefferson softball (4-17, 3-2 CACC) battled a double header against Wilmington (13-12, 6-1 CACC) but dropped both games on Tuesday afternoon.
GAME ONE: L, 10-1 (5 INNINGS)
- Wilmington struck early, scoring in the first inning on a steal of home. A three-run second inning, capped by an RBI single put the Wildcats ahead 4-0.
- Jefferson's best scoring opportunity came in the third when Becca Shuler singled and Lilly Hutt followed with a hit, but the Rams were unable to capitalize.
- Wilmington extended its lead in the fourth, highlighted by a three-run homer to make it 10-0.
- The Rams got on the board in the fifth when Lilly Hutt ripped an RBI triple to score Becca Shuler, but it was not enough to extend the game.

- The Wildcats jumped ahead early with two runs in the first and added three more in the third.
- The Rams answered in the fourth when Tori Lipka smashed a two-RBI double, followed by a run scored on a Wilmington error to cut the deficit to 5-3.
- However, Wilmington responded immediately with a run in the bottom half and erupted for five unearned runs in the fifth to seal the run-rule victory.
- Jefferson fought back in game two but could not hold off Wilmington's offensive surge, dropping the contest 11-3 in five innings.
