Jefferson Baseball Makes a Comeback in Wilmington Doubleheader; Splits Series


PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson baseball team put together a strong performance in their doubleheader against Wilmington, with an impressive comeback in the second game and solid pitching. The Rams erupted for 10 runs across four innings, securing their 16th win of the season.

WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: L, 5-2

  • Wilmington struck early with a solo home run in the first inning. The visitors added two more runs in the third, capitalizing on a clutch two-RBI single. A solo shot in the seventh and another homer in the ninth extended their lead to 5-0.
  • Jefferson finally broke through in the ninth when Joshua Lopez led off with a walk, stole second, and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Javon Hernandez delivered with an RBI double and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Thomas Matuszewski. However, Wilmington's bullpen shut the door to seal the win.

GAME TWO: W, 10-2

  • Wilmington once again took an early lead in the first with a solo home run to center field. However, Jefferson responded swiftly in the second as Thomas Matuszewski scored on a clutch RBI single from Gabe Silva, tying the game at 1-1.
  • The Rams took control in the third when Thomas Matuszewski crushed a three-run homer to left field, driving in Joshua Lopez and Javon Hernandez to push Jefferson ahead 4-1.
  • The offensive surge continued in the fourth with a two-run blast from Julio Frometa Gomez and another two-run homer from Javon Hernandez, extending the lead to 8-1.
  • On the mound, Albert Bobadilla delivered a stellar complete-game performance, allowing just two runs on four hits over seven innings while striking out one.
