Hernandez and Matuszewski Placed on ABCA/Rawlings All-America First Team
 
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Thomas Jefferson University baseball gets their final awards for the major polls as graduate student Javon and Hernandez and freshman Thomas Matuszewski were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-America Team, with both Hernandez and Matuszewski placed on the First Team.
 
Hernandez had 13 homeruns, 76 runs, and .707 Slugging percentage on the season while being tied for first in the CACC and ranked highly in the nation in hits with 88. The CACC Player of the Year makes the All-East Region First Team with 19 doubles and three triples this year while starting in every game the Rams have played, with majority of his time on the field at shortstop. The Danbury, Conn. Native has taken home multiple awards, including East Region Player of the Year from the D2CCA, American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). Hernandez biggest honor is being on the All-American teams on D2CCA and NCBWA.
 
Matuszewski is recognized with his first All-American honors as the freshman held a .438 batting average this season and sixth in doubles as he has recorded 23 on the year. The Oxford, Pa. native leads the team in hits with 89 hits this season as well as be 12th in the country in RBI's, tacking on 83 through 57 games he has played and started in. He was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Year while making the D2CCA and NCBWA All-Region teams as well. Matuszewski receives his second All-America honor this season as he was added on the D2CCA Second Team.
