Baseball Goes 12 Innings Against Indiana (Pa.), Second Game Suspended

LEWISBURG, PA – After changing their destination up to Bucknell University's baseball field, Thomas Jefferson University baseball (0-1) competed against Indiana University of Pennsylvania (1-2) in non-conference action. They only played one of their two games as game one went to 12 innings, forcing game two to be suspended due to darkness. 

WHAT HAPPENED 

• The first four innings went scoreless for both teams, with both getting as far as second base 

• Jefferson broke the tie in the fifth inning as Vincent Favata earned an RBI on a triple to bring Aleksei Goldhill to homeplate. Favata earned his own run off a wild pitch to have the Rams up 2-0 

• The Hawks responded with three runs in the bottom of the same inning. A sacrifice flyout had one run for Indiana. Next at-bat saw a two-run double to give them a 3-2 lead 

• The Rams refused to be down for long as a fielder's choice throw allowed Thomas Matuszweski to get a run on the board. Gavin West single to the shortstop allowed Luis Beato Mora to score and retake the lead 

• Indiana tied it up in the sixth with a triple RBI. The game would go past the seven innings and continue 

• The Rams had an opportunity to score in the eighth as a single to shortstop saw Andrew Holub make third and attempt home. The Hawks caught him and kept the game even 

• Indiana (Pa.) had their own attempt to win in the ninth as the bases were full from a single, walk, and intentional walk with a wild pitch in-between. Aiden Barbour got them out with three of his six strikeouts in that innings 

• The game continued to the 12th, with the Hawks getting two singles and a walk to load the bases once more. Jefferson looked to get out of the hitch, but another walk allowed Indiana (Pa.) to score and defeat the Rams 5-4 

• The second game went four innings, but was called due to darkness 

• Matuszewski and Favata both went 2-for-5 at-bat, with Favata earning a run and RBI while the former made it to homeplate. West and Beato Mora had an RBI of their own 

• Tyler Behm started and went five innings for Jefferson, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out two batters. Saiben Riveria pitched 1.1 innings, striking out two batters as well while giving up three hits and a run. Barbour struck out six batters with one hit in 2.2 innings. Jake Baumann pitched the final 2.2 innings, having two hits, one run, and five walk while retiring two batters
