Baseball Splits CACC Home Opener to Felician
 
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University baseball (3-8, 2-2) had their first home contest at Alumni Field on Saturday as the Rams went up against Felician University (10-7, 3-1). Jefferson went to earn a 10-8 win in the first game but were unable to hold off the Golden Falcons offense as the Rams fell 14-1 in game two.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 10-8
  • The first game began with Alekesi Goldhill bringing the first run on the day in with a single to right field at the bottom of the first inning
  • Felician responded as they had a sacrifice flyout to right center to even the game out. They took the lead off a Matthew Scrivanic two-run single through the left side and made it a 3-1 contest
  • The Rams offense began to click in the bottom of the third as Vincent Favata and Julio Frometa Gomez each scored on a wild pitch to tie the match up as Goldhill brought another run in off a sacrifice flyout to right field. Andrew Holub had a one-run single and made it to homeplate off another Golden Falcons wild pitch to go up 6-3
  • Felician responded with five runs of their own in the top of the fifth as a run was scored on a double play. A double down the left line made 6-5 before Andrew DeAngelis hit a three-run homerun to right center and turned the contest in favor of the Golden Falcons 8-6
  • Jefferson iced the scoring in the bottom of the sixth with Holub hitting a double to the left field, Kyle Kozlowski nailing a sacrifice flyout to right field, and Jay Salsbery earning a two-RBI double down the left line to have the Rams recapture the lead 10-8
  • Jake Baumann gets the win on the mound for Jefferson as he did not allow a runner past first base in the three innings he pitched, giving up only a walk and striking out four batters. Saiben Rivera started the day, pitching 4.2 innings with a strikeout under his belt. Trey Eckman came in and pitched 1.1 innings, giving up a hit and run with two strikes

  • Jefferson got on the board in the bottom of the seventh as Justin Egner hit a single to the shortstop
  • Will Hoffman started the game for the Rams. Cole Roschel, AJ Lefton, Cole Vida, and Chase Ceppo all made appearances on the mound for the Rams
