Baseball Splits Doubleheader Against Chestnut Hill
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Thomas Jefferson University baseball (7-11, 6-5) headed down the street to go up against fellow Philadelphia institute Chestnut Hill College (8-11, 5-6) in Wednesday afternoon Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. The Rams won game one 16-5 in seven innings, but fell in game two 10-7 to the Griffins.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 16-5 (7 INNINGS)
- Jefferson put the pressure on early in game one with four runs in the first inning with Andrew Holub two RBI single through the left side, Tripp Capers score on a wild pitch, and Vincent Favata stealing homeplate. The Rams tacked on two more from an error by Chestnut Hill and a Holub sacrifice flyout for a 6-0 Jefferson lead in the second
- After the Griffins responded with a run in the bottom of the second, Luis Beato Mora had a sacrifice flyout to right center in the third to have it at 7-1. Jefferson didn't relent with four more runs in the fourth with Braden Reiter RBI single, Julio Frometa Gomez hit by pitch and Alekesi Goldhill walk with the bases loaded, a fielder's choice, and an error from a Justin Egner at-bat to have it at 12-1
- The Rams and Griffins traded scores between the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning, with a Favata score in the fifth, a Favata walk and error in the sixth, that ultimately finished with Jefferson winning 16-5
- Tyler Behm gets the win for Jefferson, pitching 5.0 innings on the day. Tanner Sharp and Kris Giangreco played out the rest of the contest for Jefferson

- Second game started off strong for Jefferson with Holub hitting a three-run homerun in the first inning for an early Rams lead
- After Chestnut Hill hit a two-run homerun in the second, Frometa Gomez had a two RBI single to left center while Egner had a one-run RBI to center field in the fourth to make it 6-2. The Griffins went to put up four runs in the bottom of the same inning to tie the game out
- Holub had a solo homerun in the fifth to give the Rams the lead once more, but a fielding error tied the game up while a three BI double down the left line swung the game in favor of Chestnut Hill
- Jefferson got as close as third base in the sixth, but a strikeout ended their late rally as the Rams fell 10-7 in game two to the Griffins
- Jake Baumann pitched the first 3.2 innings for Jefferson with Aiden Barbour, AJ Lefton, and Cole Roschel all coming in relief on the mound
