Softball Splits at Mercy
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Thomas Jefferson University softball (9-11) headed on the road to go up against Mercy University (6-8) in non-conference action on Sunday. The Rams took game one 4-0 but fell in game two 4-0.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 4-0
- It was an efficient pitching day for both teams early on with no score being threatened in the first two innings. Jefferson went to get all their runs in the third as Liv Stevens hit a three-run homerun to get the first run on the day. Lily Hutt followed her teammates play and had a solo homerun right after to make it 4-0 in the contest
- The Mavericks got as close as second base in the contest, but Jefferson's defense held strong to get a 4-0 win
- Delaney Alix pitched all seven innings as she gave up only four hits with no runs while retiring six Mercy batters

- Second game was similar as the first, with no runs in the first two innings with the opening score in the third. This time, it was for Mercy with a single RBI triple and double to have it at 2-0. Mercy added two more in the fifth with two RBI singles to center field to have it at 4-0
- Jefferson had a chance to get a run in the second with the bases loaded but could not capitalize on the opportunity
- Lauren Bernaiche pitched 4.2 innings on the day with Bailey Maloney coming in relief for the rest of the game
