- Competed in cross country and track at Cedar Creek High School
- All-Conference honorable mention as a freshman
- Set the school record in the 600 meters and was a Second Team All-Conference selection his sophomore year
- Broke school records in the 1600 and 3200 meters, distance medley relay and 4x800 meter relay and was a First Team All-Conference selection as a junior
