PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Back Chelsea Riedell
scored 2:12 into overtime to give the top-seeded Philadelphia
University women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over eighth seed Post
University Tuesday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference (CACC) tournament quarterfinal match on Ravenhill
Field.
The Lady Rams (15-2-2) will take on fourth seed Georgian Court
University, a 5-1 winner over fifth seed Chestnut Hill, in a CACC
semifinal Thursday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High
School. Tickets for the match are $6 for adults, $3 for

Riedell's goal, her second of the year, came on the Rams' ninth
corner kick attempt of the contest. Midfielder Melissa
Copeland lofted the corner and had it hit midfielder Nicole Van
Bourgondien's head. The ball came to Riedell who knocked it
into the net for the game-winner. Copeland and Van Bourgondien both
assisted on the play.
In goal, Philadelphia's Kelli
Kowalewski faced four shots; however, none of them were on
target. Grace McConnell was stellar in the Post (6-8-2) net by
making 15 saves. The Lady Rams heavily outshot the Eagles,
36-4. Philadelphia also owned a 9-2 corner kick advantage, 8-0
after halftime.
Both teams came close to scoring the game-winner in the second
half. In the 49th minute forward Trisha Sileo hit the
crossbar from the right wing. Twenty minutes later
Post's Sabrina Sinopoli dinged the crossbar and Elin Nyman
pushed her shot attempt on the ensuing rebound wide. McConnell came
up a one-handed save on a 79th-minute shot by Janine Cascio to
keep the match scoreless.
