Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Three different Lady Rams put their names in the goal column as the Philadelphia University women's soccer team earned a 3-0 win over visiting Goldey-Beacom in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener Thursday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
Defender Carla Chmielewski broke through for the Lady Rams (1-2-0, 1-0-0 CACC) in the 26th minute to give the team a 1-0. Chmielewski right-foot volleyed home a centering pass from forward Angela Ferro for the Lady Rams' first goal of the season.
Ferro doubled the Philadelphia lead with a 32nd-minute goal after receiving a crossing pass from midfielder Melissa Copeland.
Defender Chelsea Riedell out-jumped the Goldey-Beacom (0-2-0, 0-1-0 CACC) defense on a corner kick taken by midfielder Jessica Stec to head home the Lady Rams' final goal of the match in the 55th minute.
Keeper Kelli Kowalewski didn't face a shot in the opening 66:14. Courtney Shaw came in and made two saves.
Goldey-Beacom's Alyssa Vetrano stopped six shots, all in the second half.
Philadelphia had a consistent attack from start to finish, attempting 38 shots during the match, while holding Goldey-Beacom to just two shots.
The Lady Rams travel to Bronxville, N.Y. Saturday, Sept. 8 to take on Concordia (N.Y.) in a CACC match starting at noon.
