Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team was shutout by No. 16 University of Bridgeport, 2-0, in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
Bridgeport's Tabe Rauschenberger opened the scoring 9:30 into the contest with a high-arcing shot from the right corner of the penalty area that floated its way into the left side of the goal to give the Purple Knights (12-1-0) a 1-0 lead.
Amanda Moura added to the Bridgeport advantage at 32:15 when she headed home a rebound from a Rauschenberger free-kick shot that hit the crossbar.
Junior defender Meagan Yates (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) had the Rams' (2-7-1) best chance to score at the 74:17 mark. Yates redirected a free kick by senior defender Nicole Van Bourgondien (Southold, N.Y./Southold), but the header hit the right post and bounced away.
Sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) made five saves for the Rams. The Purple Knights' stopped three shots.
Bridgeport owned a 12-6 shot advantage.
Philadelphia continues its five-match homestand on Thursday, Oct. 17 against Molloy at 4 p.m.
