Box Score

Head Coach Herb Magee's men's basketball team held off a furious late rally  by the Wilmington Wildcats on Saturday afternoon, December 1st, to earn a 65-61 win in both teams' Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener at the Palestra in Philadelphia.  The Rams improve to 2-5 overall for the season, while Wilmington falls to 1-5.

Philadelphia University opened up a 34-26 halftime lead on Russell Frederick's 4-5 first-half shooting from the field and 4-6 from the free-throw line.  Frederick finished the contest with a game-high 19 points to go along with eight assists, five rebounds and four steals as the sophomore guard turned in another solid performance. Sophomore forward Malcolm Ingram contributed a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards, and junior guard Mike Dunn nailed four three-pointers for 12 total points while playing the entire 40 minutes.

The Wildcats trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half, and were down 12 with six minutes remaining, before going on a 12-2 run to cut the Rams' lead to two with just over a minute to go.  That's when sophomore transfer forward Marcus Lemon casually knocked down four straight foul shots in the final minute of play to seal the four-point decision for Philadelphia University.

Coach Magee's team continues its conference slate on Monday night, December 3rd at cross-town rival Holy Family University at 8:00 p.m., following Tom Shirley's women's basketball team's game vs. the Tigers which tips-off the doubleheader at 6:00 p.m. in Northeast Philadelphia.
