Win at Dominican Keeps Rams Atop CACC

The visiting Rams of Philadelphia University improved their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) record to 6-0 with a win over Dominican College, 79-66 this afternoon on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center in Orangeburg, N.Y.

The Rams held a 42-36 lead going into the break behind a 16-point first half by sophomore Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, Pa./Solebury Prep).  Philadelphia shot 62.5% from the floor to DC's 48.0% in the opening frame.

In the second half, Philadelphia jumped out to a 14-point lead with 8:27 to go, but the Chargers were able to cut the lead to nine points with 2:38 left.  However, the Rams finished up the game with a 10-6 run en route to the 79-66 victory.

Ingram led the Rams with 26 points and 11 rebounds.  Senior Jason Hickenbottom (Philadelphia, Pa./Simon Gratz) netted 16 points and 10 caroms, while Russell Frederick (Joppa, Md./Calvert Hall) added 11 points in the win.

Junior Dato Sakvarelidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) led the Chargers with 16 points.  Guards Jonathan Guzman (Rutherford, N.J.) and Will Carty (Bronx, N.Y.) each scored 13 points, while Carty had four assists and three steals.

With the win, Philadelphia improves to 9-10 overall and 6-0 in the CACC, while Dominican drops to 8-8 overall and 3-3 in the CACC.

The Rams are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Waterbury, Conn. to face Post University.  Tip-off against the Eagles is slated for 3:00 p.m.
