Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
women's soccer team (5-6-3, 4-0-2 CACC) earned their third straight
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win 2-0 over
Dominican College (4-8-1, 3-3-1 CACC) on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Sara Redka (Williamsport, PA/
Williamsport Area) had the game-winner in the first period.
Senior Briana Reinford (Gilbertsville, PA/
Pottsgrove) had a scoring opportunity with a penalty shot at the
21:04 mark in the first half, but Charger keeper Valentina Sturchio
knocked the ball up and over the net.
Redka (Williamsport, PA/ Williamsport Area) broke the stalemate
with just under five minutes remaining in the first period to get
the 1-0 lead and eventual game-winner, assisted by freshman
Dana Rokoszak (Hillsborough, NJ/
Hillsborough).
Junior Jill Sokolski (Philadelphia, PA/
Nazareth) knocked in a hard goal at the 62 minute mark to add an
insurance score for the Lady Rams.
Senior goalie Sara Hall (Wilmington, DE/
Wilmington Charter) had six saves in goal, while freshman keeper
Rebecca Della Peruta (Haddon Heights, NJ/ Haddon
Heights) saw just over five minutes of action for Phila U.
The Lady Rams continue their home stand next week as they Holy
Family on Wednesday, October 15th at 4:00 p.m.
