Rams Stellar Shooting Dooms Millersville 67-61 in Home Contest

Box Score

Philadelphia, PA- Playing at home for the first time in 41 days, the Philadelphia University Rams (7-2, 2-0 CACC) dished out a 67-61 victory over the Millersville University Marauders (4-5, 0-0 PSAC) on Tuesday afternoon.  The Rams were led by junior forward Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) who led all scorers with 20 points and added six boards.

MU was led by Makal Stibbins and Palmer McDurfee- both with 18 points.

The Rams shot 62% to MU's 47% from field-goal range in the second half, and out-rebounded MU 23-14 for the game.

PhilaU led for all but three minutes of the entire contest, as a slam by junior forward Mike Yocum (Dresher, PA/ Episcopal Academy) revved up the Ram offense early in the first stanza to take a 14-9 lead at 9:37.  Yocum finished the game with 11 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

A 12-0 PhilaU run in the following minutes would push the maroon and gray lead to 22-9, their biggest lead of the contest.  A trey by MU's McDurfee would get the Marauders within 10, but senior guard Mike Dunn (Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) nailed a trey of his own to keep the Rams at a safe distance.  Dunn had 12 points and two rebounds in the contest.

The Rams led 30-23 at the half.

The Marauders threatened again at 15:54 in the second half at 36-35, but PU stayed ahead with help from junior guard Marcus Lemon's (Alexandria, VA/ T.C. Williams) three at 11:28.  Lemon had 12 points, five assists and four rebounds for PhilaU.

PhilaU went 6-7 at the free-throw line in the final minute to hold onto a 67-61 victory.  Junior guard Russell Frederick finished with 12 points, three assists and two steals for the Rams.

The Rams will host Mercy College on Sunday, January 4th at 2:00 p.m. in their next contest.
