Volleyball Watches Early Lead Disappear in 3-2 Loss

Aston, PA- The Philadelphia University volleyball squad (2-6) dropped a 3-2 match to Philadelphia Biblical University (9-5) on Thursday night in non-conference action.  Junior Celena Rendon (San Antonio, TX/ Tom C. Clark) led the Lady Rams with 15 kills.  Set scores were: 25-19, 19-25, 19-25, 25-17, 10-15. 

The Lady Rams went up 1-0 in the first set, before falling by identical 25-19 scores in the second and third.  Senior Katie Miller (Elkton, MD/ Rising Sun) had 12 digs and seven kills, while fellow seniors Lindsay Butler (DeKalb, IL/ DeKalb) and Molly Malone (Rochester, NY/ Gates Chili) each had five kills.

Phila U. came back to take game four 25-17, as freshman setter Adrienne Stigura (Reading, PA/ Reading Central Catholic) finished with 19 assists on the night. 

Tied at 2-2, the match went into a decisive fifth set.  The teams battled back and forth until Biblical went up 10-8.  The Eagles continued to rally as they grabbed a 15-10 win and 3-2 overall victory.

The Lady Rams open up CACC competition on Saturday, September 20th when they travel to Nyack for a 1:00 p.m. match.
